The various industry "Standard Conditions and Finishes," which are produced by thermal, mechanical and chemical means, and in which bare, unmounted aluminum foil is available, are as alphabetically listed below:

Standard Conditions of Bare Aluminum Foil

Annealed Foil - Foil completely softened by thermal treatment.
Chemically Cleaned Foil - Foil chemically washed to remove lubricant and foreign material.
Hard Foil - Foil fully work-hardened by rolling.
Intermediate Temper Foil - Foil intermediate in temper between Annealed Foil and Hard Foil.
Roll of Foil - Foil in coiled form.
Sheets of Foil - Foil in rectangular form, sheared to size.

Standard Finishes of Bare Aluminum Foil

Bright Two Sides Foil (B2S) - Foil having a uniform bright specular finish on both sides.
Embossed Foil - Foil on which a pattern has been impressed by means of an engraved roll or plate.
Etched Foil - Foil roughened chemically or electrochemically to provide an increased surface area, for such uses as capacitors.
Extra Bright Two Sides Foil (EB2S) - Foil having a uniform extra bright specular finish on both sides.
Matte One Side Foil (M1S) - Foil with a diffuse reflecting finish on one side and a bright specular finish on the other.
Matte Two Sides Foil (M2S) - Foil having a diffuse reflecting finish on two sides.
Mechanically Grained Foil - Foil mechanically roughened for such applications as lithographic plates.
Mill Finish Foil (MF) - Foil having a nonuniform finish which may vary from coil to coil and within a coil.
Scratch Brushed Foil - Foil abraded with wire or plastic/abrasive brushes to produce a roughened surface.
